Even though Brendan Fraser and Anita Briem were not able to reprise their roles in this second installment, it is comforting to know that we would still see the familiar face of Josh Hutcherson. We would remember that in the first movie, Brendan Fraser dragged Josh into his journey to the middle of the Earth. This is after Brendan got visited by his long lost brother in his dreams. The long lost brother leaving mysterious trails for the duo to follow. However, they eventually found out that the brother has already been dead for a while. But he left certain stuff for his son who is Josh. In the end of the first movie, it was shown that Brendan, Josh and their tour guide Anita was released out of the center of the Earth by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. They were however able to get a few precious stones out from the middle of the earth.
This new movie will star Josh Hutcherson once again. With him is Dwayne Johnson who played the role of Hank Parsons, Josh’s step dad, Michael Caine as Alexander Anderson, Josh’s granddad, Vanessa Hudgens as Kailai, Josh’s love interest, Luis Guzman as Gabato, Kailai’s father and Kristin Davis as Elizabeth Anderson, Josh’s mother.
